Plucked Wins Best Dark Comedy Film at the New York International Film Awards
A second award for the Morgan and Vincent feature as its festival run continues.

NEW YORK, NY — Plucked has won Best Dark Comedy Film at the New York International Film Awards, the second award of the film's 2026 festival run.
The win follows Best Horror Feature Film at the Garden State Film Festival, where the film had its World Premiere in March, and an Official Selection at the Riverside International Film Festival in April.
“We've now won for horror and for comedy with the same cut of the same movie,” said co-director Usher Morgan. “I've stopped arguing with it. The film is both, and audiences seem to decide which one they're watching somewhere around the second course.”
Set in Gilded Age New York, Plucked follows Katherine Greene (Katie Vincent), who resolves to divorce her emotionally unstable husband in 1886 — a decision that collides with a high-stakes dinner party meant to preserve appearances. The film stars Vincent alongside Jared Canfield, Catherine Curtin, J. Anthony Crane, Bryant Carroll and Susan Gallagher.
“The laughs are the sugar,” said co-director and star Katie Vincent. “What's underneath is a woman with no legal standing trying to leave. Both awards are pointing at the same thing.”
Plucked continues its festival run ahead of a theatrical release later this year.
